Recruitment Overview

The Railway Recruitment Cell, Western Railway has released Apprentice 2026 Recruitment Notification under the Apprentices Act, 1961. This recruitment is for engagement of Act Apprentices for training in different trades across divisions and workshops.

A total of 5,349 apprentice slots have been notified for the training year 2025–26. Selection will be done purely on merit based on 10th and ITI marks. There will be no written examination or interview.

Category-wise reservation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen as per rules.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Must have passed 10th (Matriculation) with minimum 50% aggregate marks.
  • Must possess ITI certificate in the relevant trade issued by NCVT.
  • Applicants awaiting results are not eligible.
  • Engineering Graduates and Diploma holders are not eligible under this notification.

  • Minimum Age: 15 Years
  • Maximum Age: 24 Years

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST: 5 Years
  • OBC: 3 Years
  • PwBD: 10 Years
  • Ex-Servicemen: 10 Years + Defence Service + 3 Years (Minimum 6 months service required)

Selection Process & Merit Rule

Selection will be done based on a merit list.

  • Merit prepared by taking average of 10th and ITI marks.
  • Equal weightage to both.
  • No written exam.
  • No interview.

In case of tie:

  • Older candidate will be preferred.
  • If DOB same, earlier Matric pass candidate will be preferred.

Training Period & Stipend

  • Training Duration: 1 Year
  • Stipend: Paid as per Railway Board prescribed rates.

There is no guarantee of permanent job after completion of apprenticeship.

Fee must be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI or Internet Banking.

Reservation & Category Rules

  • 4% Reservation for PwBD
  • 3% Reservation for Ex-Servicemen
  • SC/ST interchange allowed if vacancy remains unfilled
  • Unfilled reserved posts will go to UR category

Medical Fitness Standards

Selected candidates must produce Medical Fitness Certificate signed by Government authorized doctor (not below Assistant Surgeon).

No hostel facility will be provided. Candidates must arrange their own accommodation.
