NHPC Trainee Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview
NHPC Limited, a premier Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Government of India, has announced a Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) for 2026. This recruitment is specifically for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and PwBD categories. NHPC is looking for young, vibrant engineers to join as Trainee Engineers in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines.

Salary Structure & Benefits
NHPC offers one of the best pay packages in the industry for entry-level engineers.
- Pay Scale: Rs. 50,000 – 3% – 1,60,000 (IDA) in E2 Grade.
- In-Hand/Annual CTC: The total annual emoluments are approximately Rs. 15 to 16 Lakhs.
- Allowances: Candidates receive Dearness Allowance, HRA, Cafeteria Allowance, Performance Related Pay (PRP), and medical facilities for self and family.
- Career Growth: After one year of successful training, candidates are absorbed as Engineers with a one-year probation period.
Educational Qualification & Eligible Branches
Candidates must have completed a full-time regular BTech-Jobs or B.E. / B.Sc (Engineering) degree from a recognized university.

Age Limit & Category Relaxations
The upper age limit is 30 years as of April 06, 2026. Relaxations are provided as per government norms:
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years
- SC / ST: 5 Years
- PwBD (General): 10 Years (Cumulative with category relaxation)
- Ex-Servicemen: As per Government of India rules.
GATE-Based Selection Methodology
The selection process is merit-based and focuses on technical knowledge and personality traits.
- GATE Score: Shortlisting will be based on the best normalized marks obtained in either GATE 2024 or GATE 2025.
- Interviews: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).
- Weightage: Final Merit = 75% (GATE Score) + 5% (GD) + 20% (Personal Interview).

- OBC (NCL) Candidates: Rs. 600 + GST (Total Rs. 708).
- SC/ST/PwBD/Women: Completely Exempted (No Fee).
